Postpartum Support

“We used the postpartum package with High Country Doulas and it was one of the reasons I was able to successfully breastfeed. Allison and her team offered support and smart insight during a difficult time in the first few months. With their help, we were able to figure it out!

They were patient and kind during an exhausting period and helped walk me through skills like swaddling, soothing, sterilizing bottle, etc. It was nice to have someone slowly re-explain and demonstrate all of these things once you are out of the hospital. I highly recommend their services to first-time parents—it was the extra boost we needed. “

Dear High Country Doulas...

Dear High Country Doulas,

“I wanted to thank you not only for the information on paced bottle feeding, but the guidance you provided when you visited us. We have been using the techniques for soothing and sleeping. Our son sleeps well at night, waking 2-3 times for feedings. It was so helpful to have you come and share knowledge with us, and I appreciated someone caring about my wellbeing as well as our son’s.”

"We had a fantastic experience with the High Country Doulas, utilizing many of their services and working with all of their doulas: labor support, breastfeeding and postpartum classes, and daytime and overnight services.

Without family in the area, we really benefitted from all of this help and knowledge in order to best care for our first child. We had an unexpected long stay in the hospital, followed by breastfeeding pain, followed by the sleepless nights that accompany every newborn, and other questions that popped up as we moved forward with our little one (questions about digestion, sleeping, etc.).

I would recommend any of their doulas, who provided excellent support of all kinds (physical, emotional, etc.) and even are willing to answer questions that pop up off-duty. This is an excellent and trustworthy organization that will help you transition to various stages of parenthood. I can’t recommend them enough."

“My wife and I used High Country Doulas immediately after the birth of our son and continue to use them for occasional backup support. They certainly made the anxious, early days after coming home from the hospital calm, smooth, and more joyful with their helping hands, emotional support, and willingness to support us in any way we needed. They certainly made us better and saner parents in the first weeks and months after our son's birth.”

“Stacey was there for my birth. I honestly feel like if it wasn't for her advocating for me, i wouldn't have gotten the natural birth I wanted to have. It was really nice to have someone assist with labor. I think it also put my husband at ease knowing he had support as well. Allison was very knowledgeable and helped me when I was struggling with breastfeeding among countless other questions. Having the support whenever we needed it truly made a difference. I can't thank you both enough!”

“Allison and Stacey were amazing! Any time my wife or I had questions, they were more than happy to help and were very quick to respond. Stacey was incredible during labor and delivery. From helping my wife and I stick to the birthing plan to the really good photos that we otherwise never would have gotten, she was with us every step of the way. Would definitely recommend High Country Doulas to any expecting parents.”

“Our doula was most helpful during the birth as she aided in pain management. She also provided vital information and resources prior to and after the birth of our daughter.”

“Our doula was a saving grace during labor. She offered massage during contractions and suggested positional changes to help manage pain. I truly feel that I do not know how I would have managed without her. She was available prior to the birth to answer questions, especially as I navigated the last week of pregnancy and experienced Braxton-Hicks and intermittent contractions. She also provided invaluable information after the birth regarding breastfeeding, sleep schedules, baby comfort techniques, and postpartum emotions.”

“High Country Doulas provided us with invaluable information and hands-on help prior to, during, and after the birth of our daughter. During labor, I struggled with feeling out of control and unable to cope. Our doula, Allison, was a saving grace as she offered massage during contractions and suggested positional changes to help manage pain. I truly feel that I do not know how I would have managed without her. She was also a great resource after the birth for help with breastfeeding, sleep schedules, baby comfort techniques, and postpartum emotions. We have seen major improvements in our newborn's behavior and schedule after receiving advice from Allison. Thankfully, we now know how to calm our crying baby and put her down for sleep! Our doula has made a world of difference in our lives as new parents.”

“We highly recommend Allison & High Country Doulas! We can't say enough good things about them. We gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and they supported us before, during and after the birth. Having an birth advocate helped us in so many ways. You can ask them anything, anytime which was very helpful us, especially once my wife started going into labor. They are very kind, professional and knowledgable. If you're thinking about getting a Doula we promise you won't regret it.”

"These ladies create such a genuinely loving atmosphere in all that they do. They are extremely supportive and caring. We spent time with several of the doulas in the practice. They were all patient, kind, and truly wanted to assist us however they could to make our experiences with them the best.

You are appreciated High Country Doulas!!

We all loved the care and time taken to educate and love our family while preparing our placenta encapsulation. Not to mention the attention given to us prior to our birth by you all! You are an exceptional group of women!”

"I worked with High Country Doulas after the birth of my baby. I can honestly say I would not have survived those subsequent weeks of motherhood physically and mentally without their help. They are simply incredible! Their availability and flexibility in schedule was extremely important to me. They were available at all hours...I wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone, and I know I would do it again if I were to do the baby thing all over again."

"I had a wonderful experience with High Country Doulas! I am so glad I had a doula by my side during labor. My labor experience did not go the way I’d hoped, and having someone there who could help us weigh our options and make informed decisions was crucial. She gave us helpful ideas for pain management and was so encouraging the whole time. After we were home from the hospital, she came to the house and helped me process the whole crazy experience. Her knowledge was invaluable.

The support I got pre- and post-delivery was wonderful. My doulas were always available to answer questions and guide me through the process. The childbirth education class with High Country Doula’s childbirth educators was very helpful in preparing my husband and me for labor, delivery, and basic newborn care. I am so glad I chose to work with High Country Doulas and highly recommend them!"

"Every aspect of our doula experience was helpful, from prenatal classes to postpartum care!

We always knew that we would want the help of doulas when it came time to start our family, but we could never have dreamed how helpful they would be. From the moment we signed on they were in constant contact, checking on my pregnancy progress and preparation. There is no way that I would have made it through a natural labor and delivery without the help of our labor doula. She used a combination of massage, movement, essential oils, humor and more to make the experience as smooth and memorable as possible.

The postpartum doula met us when we got home from the hospital and immediately got to work making us comfortable. She worked with and empowered us for 8 amazing weeks before saying goodbye with a batch of homemade brownies!"

"I liked the professionalism of the staff. They came with name tags on for each shift. I enjoyed reading the report card they left explaining how the baby did, when he ate and what they accomplished at the end of their shift. That was a really nice touch. I appreciated their personalized attention and knowledge of every aspect of parenting, breastfeeding and child care. We worked the most with Allison and she was extremely thorough and resourceful! If there was something she didn't know she would research it.

The staff was extremely professional and flexible. I felt very comfortable and at ease to let her care for our newborn upon meeting her. She was extremely knowledgeable and resourceful on several topics and provided us with techniques to help care for our baby. The service is 5 stars!

The payment process was very simplistic. That was appreciated and easy to do. Don't have anything negative to say. We truly enjoyed the care provided!"

Rachel

All through my pregnancy, I was convinced I would have this whole mom gig down. Once the baby came, I quickly realized how in over my head I was. My husband has a demanding work schedule and l had entered into a new life from a NYC professional to a stay at home mom in Boone.

I thought I could handle it but I found myself needing a break every now and then in order to restore myself, mentally and physically. After my first week with Allison, I had only wished I found her sooner. She's trustworthy, observant to my needs and genuinely cares for my son with love. She's also an on demand help when she isn't here with us. I know I can shoot her a text at any time and she'll respond with advice that always helps pinpoint what our son might be going through.

A natural caregiver, Allison has contributed to my son's growth, kept my house in order and has been a shoulder to lean on when I've felt overwhelmed. Not only does she help keep our family together in the moment, but she also educates us on what to expect in our son's next phase. Knowing what to look for helps minimize the guessing game and we're able to comfort and soothe him quicker than ever. Her calm and comforting presence in our lives has restored me as a mother and wife to my family all while helping me regain my identity. She is a gift I wish I could give to every mother. "
