Hydration

Staying hydrated is key during the hot summer months and it is important that you and your little one are replenishing your bodies while having fun in the sun!

  • Keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water: Experts recommend 128 ounces of water while breastfeeding and around 64 ounces for most adults.

    • Having a glass of water before or after every feeding is a good way to get your daily quota without having to think about it.

  • Babies can get dehydrated much quicker so while you are hydrating yourself with water, it is important to keep your baby hydrated with milk if they are still breast or bottle feeding

    • Infants under the age of 6 months shouldn’t drink water but those over 6 months can begin consuming modest amounts

  • After the first 6 months, they can eat cold fruits such as watermelon to cool down

    • Mesh feeders are great to use with watermelon, strawberries, etc. for younger babies. And frozen fruits in them make to a refreshing snack for toddlers.
